Underground Tours at Geevor
Visit Wheal Mexico
Geevor’s 20th century workings are unfortunately not open for public access. They are flooded up to sea level, but recent exploration has shown that there is huge potential for visits in the future. We are working to create access for visitors, but this will be an expensive process. The underground workings that you can visit on the current tour are part of Wheal Mexico.
This is a real mine, the levels were made just big enough for one man to work at the face. The broken rock was moved along the levels in a wheelbarrow or handbarrow. You will be accompanied underground by a guide, who will explain what you see. To ensure safety, only small groups are taken underground.
