Activities can be found across site for all ages and interpretation at different levels is available - all with the stunning backdrop of the Atlantic and access to coastal walks and other mine sites. Take it all in at your own pace and follow your own interests around the site - though do allow a few hours if you wish to cover the whole site!
For families with ‘mini-miners’ who may not wish to go underground, you can read about Basil and Scraggs as they go underground in our very own Geevor storybook available in the Hard Rock Museum, or purchased from the Geevor Shop. This allows them to experience mining in a gentler way and they can follow Basil and Scraggs trail in the Hard Rock Museum to accompany the story.
Onsite activities include:
Panning for gems – take any finds home with you!
Interactive museum exhibits using various media and senses, suitable for all ages!
Colouring-in station to take home a masterpiece, or leave for others to admire
Entire site to explore and discover atmospheric buildings at your own pace
‘Hunting for Tin’ trail around the site provided at Reception for free
Check out the current exhibition displayed in the Hard Rock Gallery, and the What’s On? section for events all year round. Every visitor on site can have an all-round sensory experience to get a feel for the Cornish tin mining way of life.
