AT GEEVOR TIN MINE

Saturday 4th July

Family Nature Explorer Walk

A guided family activity walk focused on children using Explorer Packs and activities to discover the wealth of biodiversity around the site at Geevor and Levant Tin Mines. Free. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Best suited for 5 – 12 years old. 10am – 1230pm. Includes a voucher for half price site entrance. Book in advance as places are limited. Max Number : 15

Saturday 4th July

Wildlife on the Edge photographic competition

Calling all budding photographers…
To celebrate the wealth of nature in and around Geevor, from October 23rd we will be showing an exhibition of photographs of wildlife by the renowned local nature photographers David Chapman, Rory Goodall and Elaine Drury. Alongside this we are running a nature photographic competition and will display the runners up and winners as part of this exhibition. Open to children and adults alike, prizes for the winners.

Sunday 19th July

Guided Ancient Archaeology Walk

Join National Trust Archaeologist Paul Bonnington at Geevor for a two-and-a-half hour guided walk to explore the prehistoric fogous and landscape at Boscaswell and Pendeen. 1pm. £5 per person which includes a voucher for half-price site entrance. Weather permitting.

Guided Industrial Archaeology Walk

Join local mining experts for a two-hour walk to explore the industrial archaeology of Geevor and the surrounding areas. 11am. £5 per person which includes a voucher for half-price site entrance. Numbers are limited so please book in advance. Weather permitting. Max Number 25.

Miners’ tale

Listen to a twenty-minute talk on an interesting aspect of mining history., 1130am. No booking required. Free with site admission.

Hand drilling

A chance to have a go at hand drilling, hand barrowing and crushing rock using a bucking iron. Supervised by Geevor staff. Free with site admission. Suitable for all ages (except those using a bucking iron must be over 8yrs). All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. No booking required. Between 2pm and 3pm.

Sword in the Stone demonstrations

Neil Burridge, Bronze-Age Metalworker and Celtic Craftsman, shows how to cast a Bronze-Age sword and how this ancient metal was worked. Tuesday 28th July 12pm and 230pm. No booking required. Free with site admission.

Wednesday 29th July

Sunday 16th August

Wild food Walk

Join a leisurely 'Wild Food Walk' and learn about the many different edible plants growing around the Biodiversity Trail Geevor Tin Mine. Learn how to identify a range of wild foods, hear historical and medicines uses, as well as tasty recipes developing skills and confidence to forage on your own. 1030am – 1pm. £10 per person. Book in advance as places are limited. Includes a voucher for half price site entrance. Max Number : 15.

Friday 21st August
