Post 16 Education
Geevor is an excellent base for colleges and universities for fieldwork. Academic institutions have used Geevor for a range of specialist topics, such as Mining, Geology, Geography, Earth Sciences and Environmental Science.
The mine is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The setting has made it a prime location for photography and film making courses. The industrial buildings within the mining landscape surrounded by stunning natural scenery, has drawn individuals and institutions to make Geevor their base for the Visual Arts.
Students have used Geevor, the key centre within the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site, as a base for Industrial Heritage research.
Independent research projects and PhDs for a broad array of subjects have also successfully taken place with Geevor as a key resource or case study.
