Post 16 Education
A number of colleges and universities have used Geevor as a base for fieldwork and to cover a range of specialist topics, such as Environmental Science and the Visual Arts.
Tours by our Geevor Guides, many of whom are ex-miners, add colour to the academic background and gives the personal touch and wider effects of mining history.
Though we cannot claim to be experts in every relevant field of study, we can provide the background context to the mining industry and Cornish culture which you can apply your academic theory.
Independent research projects and PhDs for a broad array of subjects have also successfully taken place with Geevor as a key resource or case study. Sections of some of these projects have been made available on this website.
Although research facilities onsite are limited, both the Learning and Curatorial staff will endeavour to help as much as possible. Check out the Explore the Mine sections on this website for more information about our collection or contact us to discuss accessibility to the archive and collection.

We can offer talks and tours for groups of adults and special interest groups. We're happy to talk through your requirements.
For groups of ten or more, we can often offer bespoke tours at a discount rate. This can be arranged with Geevor’s Learning Team
