Covid Update information
What changes have we made at Geevor?
We have made some changes around the site to ensure that your safety is a priority in these unusual times.
- We have had to change our opening days. We were previously open 6 days a week, but have had to reduce this to 5. We will now be closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Under new government guidelines, from August 8th, all visitors will be required to bring a face covering with them when coming to Geevor for use when in buildings. These coverings may be either cloth or medical. Note: this does not apply to children under 11 or people with health reasons.
- When you arrive at our reception you will see that we have installed cough/ sneeze guards, as we have also done in our shop and cafe.
- All hard hats are cleaned and sterilised before and after each use.
- Toilets are available by the car park, reception building and the museum; please follow the guidance on the signage. Government guidance advises us to wash our hands regularly.
- We have increased our cleaning regime, particularly in the toilets.
- We have installed hand sanitiser stations around the site in various buildings and we encourage you to use them.
- If you have to queue you will be asked to keep 2 metres apart to ensure we comply with government guidance.
- We have marked out one way-systems in some of our buildings. Where this is not possible we have installed signage requesting no more than one group enter at any time.
- Our gift shop and cafe are open with numbers controlled for social distancing. Face coverings are required to be worn in the mine shop under current guidelines.
- You are welcome to use the picnic benches that we have placed opposite the cafe area.
- All people going underground into Wheal Mexico Mine are required to wear a face covering at all times within the mine.
- Please follow any instructions given by our staff.
