Wheal Mexico
Underground Mine
Experience being in a real mine. Go underground and walk through the tunnels that were made by men & boys two hundred years ago!
Open each day from 10am, children are welcome to go into the mine but must be able to walk, not carried, to take part in this exciting experience.
Dating back to the 18th century Wheal Mexico was a part of the tin and copper mining industry that dominated Cornwall for centuries, providing the bronze used in machinery during the Industrial Revolution: from factories producing cotton and woollen cloth in the north of England, buttons in Birmingham to ships on Clydeside!
